Almost every film has a philosophical concept behind it. In the case of "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," law and order is the theme. While this film focuses on an extreme lack of government involvement there are countless others that provide insight into the exact opposite situation. One for instance being The Matrix. All Ranse wants is to Introduce the idea of government regulation that can protect the citizens, but in the Matrix the regulation is so intense that the citizens aren't even living in a real world. Aristotle would suggest a golden mean for this duo of deficiency and excess. It is strange to think how different these two worlds are and how contrasting the messages behind both are, yet while watching one or the other one can find themselves in agreement with aspects of both films. It goes to show how flexible opinions on government can be.

(has spoilers but everyone’s knows what happens) A philosophical film i have seen is “Lolita” (also one of my favorites). This was one of the first popular films to explore the ideas of pedophilia and incest, and since it is from the perspective of Humbert (the pedophile) the film becomes much more complex than it would have been if it were the perspective of Dolores/Lolita. The inner thoughts of Humber make the relationship between the two seem mutual, almost as if Dolores was the one who led on Humbert which is not true. Clearly, this is an ethical dilemma because an older man has sex with his 12 year old stepdaughter. When she is sent away from him, he goes and kidnaps her then takes her all over the country having sex all along the way. Kidnap may not be the right term, for dolores’ mother ironically died just after finding out about her husbands affair... with her DAUGHTER. I don’t really know what else to say about the ethics of it... Humer got married to a woman so he could sleep with her daughter. The definition of unethical in a plot.
